Richmond United Ladies win with Women’s Month

Richmond United Ladies, also known as “The Red Army”, was established in 2013. The club is based in De Aar, Northern Cape, Pixley Ka Seme Region, and it was formed in the small town of Richmond, which lies 120 kilometres south of De Aar. The club participated in the Women’s Month campaign in August and earned R7 000 after scoring two goals.

The club chose to donate their winnings to Ethembeni Community Centre, which is located in Pixley Ka Seme District in the Northern Cape. The organisation was established in 2001 as a direct response to assist homeless children in De Aar and it is a victim empowerment centre that acts as a shelter for abused women and children. The donation will help the Centre to continue with programmes and it will help to meet the basic needs of the abused women and children.
