The Hollywood Foundation’s Enterprise and Supplier Development (ESD) programme has been transforming many SMME’s across the country. The Team is aware that these businesses require much-needed support and assistance to grow their operations and reach more customers, which in turn, may lead to a positive impact on the economy. In February, it was an honour and a privilege for the Purple Team to lend a helping to Suzie’s Kitchen in the Western Cape, through a contribution that included various items of equipment.

Suzie’s Kitchen is a 100% female-owned, informal business that prepares food and serves it to the public. Some of these food items include African cuisine, as well as hamburgers, boerewors rolls and hot chips. The business operates from a food trailer in the greater Belville area. Suzie’s Kitchen is owned by Sazini Susan Ncube, who opened up about the challenges of cooking and preparing meals in a small, mobile kitchen. Sazini stated that her hopes and dreams are for the business to grow and reach stability.

On 16 February 2023, the Hollywood Foundation Team travelled to Suzie’s Kitchen, to help make her dreams a reality. Through an Enterprise and Supplier Development contribution, the Team were excited to hand over a fully equipped and branded food trailer, as well as an array of equipment to improve the overall functioning of the business. Some of these items included a nose cone, a two-plate gas stove, a 6-litre double gas fryer, a steel table, a microwave, a microwave shelf and a food display warmer.

Sazini was extremely grateful for this assistance from the Hollywood Foundation, and explained that this contribution will also allow her to create more jobs for people within the city. She said that the assistance will allow her to cook more food and thereby allowing her to make a profit. She further added, “I appreciate what the Hollywood Foundation has done for my business, and my wish is for them to continue doing this for others.”
