Lucky Girls FC was established in 2018 and it is made up of two age groups, under-13 and under-17. The club comprises of 35 players who train weekly at Botrivier. The club was formed to promote women’s football in the Western Cape community and give young budding female soccer stars a route into the sport. One of the club’s proudest moment was winning the SAFA Overberg League. Some players have also made moves to teams in the SASOL League, a proud achievement for the club and its technical team.

 

On 18 January 2022, the Team from Dunoon was proud to hand over new soccer kits to the club. This formed part of the Hollywood Foundation’s campaign to empower developing sport teams across the country. Solwethe Gonya, the Chairman of Lucky Girls FC, explained that the donation of kits will be received with open arms as they never had a full training kit before, and it will also allow the players to perform at their best levels on match-day.
