The Hollywood Foundation has reaffirmed its commitment to education and community development through its partnership with the South African Police Service Education Trust (SAPSET), pledging R350,000 towards the Trusts learner support programme.
In addition, the Foundation has awarded more than R1.5 million towards higher education through Hollywood Foundation’s My future is Bright programme to children of police officers who lost their lives in service to the country, helping them pursue their academic goals.
The commitment was announced during a gala dinner held in Kloof, KwaZulu-Natal, recently following a fundraising golf day, where more than R5.2 million was raised in pledges. The partnership highlights the importance of collective efforts to support the families of fallen officers and create educational opportunities for their children.
Two beneficiaries attended the gala dinner and shared how the support they received through SAPSET had helped them complete their tertiary studies. Their stories highlighted the importance of the Trust’s work in providing educational assistance to children of fallen police officers and the difference this support can make in helping them achieve their academic goals.
Through this pillar, the Hollywood Foundation addresses barriers to education holistically, supporting learners from their early schooling years through to post-school opportunities. Its initiatives focus on both the internal factors that contribute to academic success, such as confidence, resilience and aspiration, and external factors, including access to essential resources, quality learning environments and opportunities beyond the classroom.
By supporting learners throughout their education journey, the Foundation encourages them to remain engaged in their studies, unlock their potential and pursue opportunities that can positively shape their futures.
Vuyisile Ngobese, Marketing Manager of the Hollywood Foundation, said the initiative reflects the Foundation’s commitment to education, sport, business and community development.
’’The Foundation is committed to building brighter futures and making a meaningful difference in communities. The cumulative financial pledges will reinforce the Hollywood Group’s longstanding commitment to supporting families and communities in KwaZulu-Natal,” said Ngobese.
“Through this partnership, the Foundation aims to help beneficiaries pursue their educational goals, realise their potential and build brighter futures,’’ added Ngobese.
