Hollywoodbets came on board as sponsors of the Phaka rugby show on SuperSport in 2018/19. The goal of the sponsorship was to aid in identifying, promoting and growing the sport of rugby at grassroot levels.
Ngzulu Zebras Rugby club was identified as one of the first clubs by host Kaunda Ntunja and the Phaka team. Hollywoodbets chose to invest in this club and grow the sport in the Ngqamakhwe area.
The club was first started in 1978 in order to create unity through participation in sports and to promote good discipline through sportsmanship.
The club clearly produces quality players as a few of their players have been promoted to the Currie Cup division and became part of some of the Super Rugby teams.
They are proud of the fact that they hosted the Heritage Tournament in 2018 and finished as runners up. Ngculu Zebras also won the Heritage Tournament in 2017.
Hollywoodbets visited them at Zoule Somlota Multi-Puprose Sports Fields where they handed over a donation of tackling bags, rugby balls, agility ladders, first aid kits, trauma boards, kit, and player tracksuits.
Club manager Xolisa Mjakujo thanked the company for their support.
“The donation has helped us create uniformity when it comes to our players. It improved our identity as a team and will motivate players to join the team. I also believe it will improve our performance,” he said.
