A Touch of Purple Magic from the Hollywood Foundation’s Corporate Social Investment (CSI) Initiative Transforms Kwandengezi Schools
The Hollywood Foundation continues to uplift the community and lend a helping hand to those in need, through its CSI initiatives. On 06 September 2023, it was a celebratory day for Bhongo and Botate Primary Schools as the Hollywood Foundation’s Purple Team embarked on a meaningful journey to the community of Kwandengezi in KwaZulu-Natal, to lend a helping hand, as well as spread joy, hope, and transformation.
Bhongo Primary School, a beacon of knowledge founded in 1991, stands as a testament to the belief that education is the key to a brighter future. However, the effects of time had left their mark on the school, with vandalised toilets, leaking taps, and fading paint. The arrival of the Purple Team was met with exhilaration and gratitude.
As they entered the school grounds, the learners greeted them with heart-warming performances, reflecting the joy and excitement of the learners. With unwavering dedication, the Purple Team had worked tirelessly on the renovation of the toilets at Bhongo Primary School as part of their CSI programme. The transformation was swift, and the impact immeasurable. Mrs. N.P. Jali, the school’s principal, was grateful for the contribution and said,
“We are so happy that our learners will now have access to clean toilets,” she exclaimed with a beaming smile. “Their dignity will be restored.”
Just a stone’s throw away, Botate Primary School, founded in 1981, shared a similar dream of empowering the community through education. The school had been wrestling with classroom conditions that were far from ideal for nurturing young minds. This challenge also affected the whole community, as parents expressed their concerns for the safety of their children.
The Hollywood Foundation’s unwavering commitment to change lives through their CSI initiative, saw them step in to renovate the classrooms at Botate Primary School. Mr. D.T. Jingela, the school’s principal, expressed his heartfelt gratitude, stating,
“The teachers and learners will now be able to perform their duties in a safe environment.”
