On 31 August 2023, the Hollywood Foundation embarked on a mission of transformation through its CSI initiative. The Purple Team reached out to Eluthandweni Maternity Clinic on a journey to enhance the lives of both patients and staff members, through the contribution of a newly refurbished clinic, that would change the lives of the community of Vosloorus and surrounding areas in Gauteng.
Eluthandweni Maternity Clinic, meaning “place of love,” was founded in 1990 with a profound mission to provide accessible, high-quality maternity care to the local communities. Over the years, it has become a pillar of support for countless mothers and families in the region and a beacon of hope within the community.
By offering maternity care, prenatal services, family planning, and child immunisation, many mothers have been able to access support and essential services without having to travel long distances. However, this haven of care faced its own challenges when its facilities became dated, and the hardworking staff had to make do with less-than-ideal conditions. The Hollywood Foundation was excited to reach out and make a generous contribution through their CSI initiative, revitalising the physical infrastructure of the clinic and breathing new life into its mission.
With improved facilities, Eluthandweni Maternity Clinic is now better equipped to serve its community. The expanded capacity will allow more mothers to access essential care without the burden of long journeys, ensuring healthier pregnancies and happier families.
The CSI handover ceremony was filled with smiles, celebration, and a sense of gratitude. The Team was welcomed with joyous musical performances from local women who came out to observe the day. Midwife and the clinic’s founder, Nonina Diphko, expressed her heartfelt appreciation and said, “We are grateful for the contribution from the Hollywood Foundation. We will now be able to increase our clientele and have a more conducive and user-friendly space to work in.”
