The recent floods and adverse weather conditions have had severe consequences on the livelihoods of many people in KwaZulu-Natal. Many households were left without running water and electricity, due to the infrastructure damage caused by the heavy downpours.
Together with Ntenga Foundation, the Hollywood Foundation chose to make the lives of these people easier through the distribution of water, using a water tank. The water tank travelled to various areas in Durban that experienced a shortage of water, such as Amaoti, Verulam, Chesterville, Umlazi, Mayville and Isipingo, from 15 to 19 April 2022. A total of 180 000 litres of water were distributed across these areas. This formed part of the Hollywood Foundation’s #HandsOfHope campaign, which aims to offer immediate relief to communities that felt the brunt of the recent floods and heavy rain in the province.
