Nondumiso Qba Nkosi had a dream to start a business that was authentic and allowed her customers the freedom to express their ideas and listen to their intuition. A few years later, her dream became a reality, and she was able to witness the creation of Bedoo Productions (Pty) Ltd. The business conducts its operations from production facilities in Ekurhuleni, and Nondumiso was delighted to hear that the business will be receiving much-needed support and assistance from the Hollywood Foundation, through the ESD programme and the #EmpoweringHER campaign.
Bedoo Productions (Pty) Ltd is a premium producer of custom-made, African-inspired, head jewels and statement pieces. The business also produces an assortment of products to make customers feel beautiful, such as beads, hats and bags. Bedoo Productions (Pty) Ltd caters to high-end clientele, which includes top achievers, stylists and wearable art collectors, both locally and internationally.
The dream for the business is to become the top producer of beadworks and wearable arts in Africa. Like many other small businesses in the country, there are many challenges and hurdles to overcome in order to taste and enjoy success. Nondumiso, a hard-working woman with a purpose, has opened up about the many obstacles that her business has had to endure, such as working without any capital on hand, and producing products using outdated machinery. The Purple Team saw the potential of this business and chose to make a meaningful contribution that will lead to improved operations.
Through the ESD programme and the #EmpoweringHER campaign, the Team was proud to contribute an array of equipment, such as a laptop, a printer, a camera and lights for the business to operate during load shedding. The business is now fully digital, equipped and produces quality images and videos for marketing and communication purposes.
Nondumiso expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the Hollywood Foundation for their support, and said, “This contribution has elevated the way that we work and has given us the confidence to continue working diligently, because we are winners.
