The Hollywood Foundation continues to spread cheer throughout the country with the #BackToSchool campaign. Since last year November, Teams from different provinces have been bringing smiles and easing the burden of many struggling parents by providing school supplies for the learners.
On 24 January 2023, the Purple Team together with Hollywoodbets Brand Ambassador and cricket legend, Mike Procter, visited Solomon Mahlangu Primary School in Mount Edgecombe, Durban, to contribute school uniforms for the learners for the 2023 academic year. Mike selected this school which is close to his heart to receive school supplies as part of the Foundation’s R4 million pledge for the #BackToSchool campaign.
The aim of the campaign is to empower many learners at the start of the new school year with key school supplies. During the handover in Solomoni Mahlangu Primary School, the Purple Team was entertained by the learners and the Team also heard some interesting stories about the school and its progress over the years.
Mike offered words of encouragement and urged the learners to do their best in their studies. The Hollywood Foundation believes that every child should start their school year with new uniform and school supplies which is why the Foundation is stepping up by providing the necessary support, which brings relief to struggling parents. The #BackToSchool campaign hopes to touch as many lives as possible and also strive to positively impact the communities the Foundation serves.
Sibonginkosi Mngadi, Principal at Solomon Mahlangu Primary School expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Hollywood Foundation for the contribution. He said that he was grateful as the school is under resourced and most learners come from underprivileged homes and sometimes cannot afford school uniform. He said, “Our wish is for all our learners to do their best at all times and reach success to overcome their circumstances. Thank you, Hollywood Foundation.”
