In August, the Team in Vasco assisted the Muscular Dystrophy Foundation of South Africa, with a contribution that included a laptop, a cannon printer, oil heaters and a spring tech chair.
The Muscular Dystrophy Foundation was founded in 1976 by Mr. and Mrs. Walker, who had a son who was affected by Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, with the aim to empower clients to live as independently as possible, for as long as possible. This organisation was established mainly to reach out to affected members and to create awareness about the disease.
Before receiving this contribution from the Hollywood Foundation, a Social Worker at this organisation, Samantha Muller, said that the IT equipment was very slow and infected with viruses, and the office was unbearably cold. The Purple Team came to their aid with the much-needed equipment.
“The laptop will enable work to be done quicker and the staff will work in a more conducive environment which will drastically improve service delivery. The Hollywood Foundation is making a huge difference in the community, thank you.”
