Sports development continues to be a major focus for the Hollywood Foundation, as the Team constantly strives to use various sporting codes to uplift and empower individuals from disadvantaged communities. Sport serves as a platform for many developing athletes to grow, while also providing them with a sense of belonging.
On 8 September 2022, the Team from the Western Cape paid a friendly visit to Mustangs CC, a cricket club based in McGregor. Cricket is regarded as a dominant sport in this community, and is a way of life. Many children use the sport to overcome various social ills that are prevalent within this society. Mustangs CC was developed in 2021 and is comprised of 20 players that compete in one team. The players engage in practice sessions three times a week, at an open field. The club was formed to uplift the underprivileged and give them a sense of direction. The club has opened up about the many struggles that it faces, including a lack of sponsors and assistance to grow and expand. The Hollywood Foundation was proud to lend a helping hand through a contribution that included cricket kits, water bottles and cricket balls. Gertjie Grootboom, a Representative from Mustangs CC, was overjoyed after receiving the contribution from the Purple Team
