This community-based non-profit organisation takes care of vulnerable children living in Seshego near Polokwane. They have been successfully helping these children with after-school classes and life skills for just over 11 years. However, since the start of the COIVD-19 pandemic they have been struggling due to a shortage of essential supplies including food. Phologo was in need of urgent assistance to help feed 61 children in order to give them the nutritional support needed to stay healthy during this time. Hollywoodbets responded to their call and donated R25 000’s worth of food parcels to the centre.
These much-needed food parcels will enable the beneficiaries of the organisation to have food at home while the centre and school are closed during the lockdown period. The beneficiaries include children between the ages of five and 18 years.
The donation came about after the company’s recent announcement that the Hollywoodbets My Community Programme, in collaboration with Nomzamo Mbatha’s Lighthouse Foundation, will be handing over R1 million to 60 NPOs and NGOs across all nine of South Africa’s provinces as part of their COVID-19 pandemic relief plan.
Phologo Director, Claudia Mothembela, expressed her gratitude to Hollywoodbets for their donation and continued support,

“We, the Phologo Drop-In Centre as well as the parents of the beneficiaries, are thrilled to have your support. Through your donation we have been able to accomplish our goal to feed the less fortunate and continue working towards the purpose of our organisation. You have truly made a difference by helping us and we are extremely grateful!”

This is Hollywoodbets’ third donation to Phologo. According to George Maekanya, Hollywoodbets Regional Manager for Limpopo, the company is thrilled to be able to support an organisation that does so much for the youth. “The work being done by Phologo is providing invaluable growth on both educational and psychological levels for these young people, and we know this will impact their future positively. Thanks to their hard work disadvantaged and vulnerable children are now given the opportunity to develop. We are grateful to them for all they do for our community, and we hope that our assistance during this time will put them in a better position to continue doing all their regular good work again as soon as they are able to,” he said.
