Hollywoodbets “Brighter Future” project with Lighthouse Foundation provides food items to Sephaphoshe Old Age Centre
Sephaphoshe Old Age Centre provides essential care to the elderly in the community of Ga-Mothapo near Polokwane. They oversee the healthcare and wellbeing of their beneficiaries, as well as assisting them with doing their exercises and supplying them with meals on a daily basis. The centre also has a sowing project which helps keep to these elderly members of society busy. It is important that even during these trying times, the elderly are well taken care of. Hollywoodbets therefore showed their support by donating R17 500 to the home which was used to provide food parcels to 42 people under Sephaphoshe’s care.
The Hollywoodbets My Community Programme recently announced that they will be donating R1 million to 60 NPOs and NGOs across all nine South African provinces. This is being done in collaboration with Nomzamo Mbatha’s Lighthouse Foundation as an active relief response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Hollywoodbets felt it was important to help those who are serving others during this time that has proven to be so difficult for many. “We have seen that the national lockdown has made it difficult for organisations to continue doing their regular work because it has become difficult for them to find the funding to do so. This donation will allow the home to continue with their feeding scheme and will make sure that their beneficiaries do not go hungry,” explained Yvonne Hlaisi, Limpopo CSI Champion for Hollywoodbets.
Hine Caroline, Manager of the centre, is thankful to Hollywoodbets for their generosity during this time.
“We are relieved that we are able to supply these food parcels to so many of our beneficiaries that have been affected most by this pandemic. We rely on donors for the functioning of our centre and we are therefore grateful to the team at Hollywoodbets,” she said.
