The Hollywood Foundation continues to make a positive impact in communities all over South Africa, through its impactful Corporate Social Investment (CSI) initiatives. Particularly, the Foundation’s “My Sport” pillar, that focuses on Sports Development, improving the potential of young people through sports. This impact again shone brightly on 2 July 2025, when Kusekhaya Football Aces received a meaningful contribution of soccer kits and equipment from the Hollywood Foundation. The Club, which was nominated by the Verulam branch, was established in 2015, with the aim of creating a safe and supportive environment for young teenagers, steering them away from negative influences. Today, the Team boasts 105 players across five divisions – Under 11, 13, 15, 17, and 23 – showcasing a clear commitment to grassroots Sport Development in the community.
This initiative is an inspiring example of how CSI can transform the lives of young people. Prior to the contribution from the Hollywood Foundation, the Club had been struggling to make ends meet. Players often relied on their parents for support, yet many families face financial challenges themselves. Now, with the contribution of proper soccer kits and equipment, the beneficiaries of Kusekhaya Football Aces have renewed motivation and the tools to practice effectively.
The Club has already achieved remarkable milestones in its short history. Their proudest moments include hosting their own tournament in 2023, travelling to Johannesburg to play against giants Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates in the same year, and reaching the finals of the prestigious Engen Cup in 2024. Beyond these achievements, Kusekhaya Football Aces has successfully produced players who have gone on to join professional Teams such as Amazulu, Richards Bay FC, and Golden Arrows – a true testament to the power of grassroots Sport Development supported by meaningful CSI initiatives.
Chairman Siyabonga Madela shared his gratitude: “This contribution from the Hollywood Foundation means so much to our Club and community. For a long time, we relied on parents who were already struggling, and it was not easy to keep the Club going. Now, with this support, our players are more confident, better equipped, and inspired to reach their full potential.”
