Laerskool Olynhoutsdrift, in Upington, was thrilled to hear the news that the school will be receiving assistance from the Hollywood Foundation’s Back to School campaign this year. The campaign has touched the lives of many people so far, and it continues to make a meaningful difference to many learners across South Africa.
The school was established in 1977, and it is comprised of many learners, who come from various backgrounds and households. Apart from educational services, the school also offers meals and sporting activities for the learners to enjoy. The teachers at the school have been vocal about the many challenges that they face, including absenteeism and teaching learners who come to school barefoot. School shoes are a staple requirement for many learners, and often, parents may struggle to purchase the shoes, in addition to the many other school items that are required for their children for the school year. On 16 March 2022, the iBranch Team from the Northern Cape was thrilled to contribute boxes of brand-new school shoes for the learners to wear.
Adelaide Isaks, the Principal of Laerskool Olynhoutsdrift, was ecstatic after receiving the much-needed contribution from the Hollywood Foundation. She added that this will assist learners at the school who do not have the opportunity to own their own pair of school shoes.
