Abalindi Welfare Society is a non-profit organisation that comprises of an old-age home, children’s home and Thokozani Creche and Pre-School in Inanda, Durban. The Society seeks to care for 70 elderly people, 40 children in the home and 108 pupils in the Creche and Pre-School. The Society seeks to care for people that come from various backgrounds.

The Hollywood Foundation Team is always looking for new people to help and new organisations to impact. Together with former rugby player, Odwa Ndungane, the Team was thrilled to make a meaningful difference in the lives of the people within the organisation. On 26 October 2021, the Team travelled with Odwa to Abalindi Welfare Society to contribute R50 000 towards appliances, such as geysers, a washing machine and wall paint. The contribution forms part of the #HopeisPower initiative, which aimed to support businesses and organisations that were negatively affected by the unrest and looting that took place in July.

“Today is quite a special day. I have been involved with Hollywoodbets for quite a number of years and through the #HopeisPower campaign, we managed to identify Abalindi Welfare Society and today we are here to do a wonderful handover which will definitely go a long way.”
