The Hollywood Foundation continues to leave a mark with meaningful contributions throughout the country. On 26 February 2023, the Purple Team visited Spartans Football Club in the Western Cape for a soccer sponsorship initiative.
With sports development at grassroots level being the major focus for the Purple Team, it was fitting for the Team to once again impact lives through a contribution of soccer kits for the club.
Spartans Football Club was established in 2012 with the aim to help the youth in developing their skills and talents. The club is building a proud tradition of developing boys, not only in sport but in all aspects of life, such as maintaining a proper behaviour on and off the field, and also keeping them away from gangsterism, drugs and other abuses they are facing on the streets.
Like many others, the club has its fair share of challenges especially with playing equipment and kits. They currently have one team with 16 players who practice once a week at the Sleepy Hollow grounds. The players are between the ages of 16 and 41. Their proudest moment was winning the November and Easter Tournament held last year. They also had players who have moved from the team to the Castle League.
According to the club, they are struggling to secure sponsors and mostly rely on donations and sponsorships as they do not receive a government grant. The club approached the Hollywood Foundation through the Parow branch, asking for assistance.
The Team was humbled to assist the club with equipment and kits as part of the soccer sponsorship initiative.
Mark Davids, the Representative of the Spartans Football Club, expressed his heartfelt gratitude to the Hollywood Foundation for the generosity and said that the contribution will help them to grow the club and recruit more players.
