Sports development is at the heart of many campaigns that are implemented within the Hollywood Foundation. Through various handovers, the Purple Team has left their imprint across an array of development sports clubs throughout South Africa. The Hollywood Foundation has also chosen to invest back into sports development, due to the remarkable impact that physical activity has proven to have on the growth of the youth. In March 2023, it was an honour for the Team in KwaZulu-Natal to visit Peace Makers FC and make a meaningful contribution, through a soccer sponsorship.
Peace Makers FC was established in 2018, and the club consists of a total of 28 players. The players are under the age of 17, and junior structures have also been put into place, in order to ensure that young talent are given the necessary support to develop their skills and abilities. The players at the club practice four times a week, after school. The primary reason for the establishment of the club was to prevent young boys from experiencing various social challenges that are rife within society, such as smoking, alcohol and drug abuse. The club’s proudest moment was when the players became the champions of the Under-15 league in 2021. One player at the club also showed incredible talent and determination, and he was selected to play for Jomo Cosmos FC. The Hollywood Foundation identified this soccer club as one that required much support and assistance to continue with their good efforts of raising respectable young men. On 22 March 2023, the Team from Ixopo was honoured to present the players at Peace Makers FC with their new sports kits. This soccer sponsorship has the aim of ensuring that the players feel a sense of pride when competing in matches.
M. Zulu, the Coach for Peace Makers FC, extended his heartfelt gratitude to the Hollywood Foundation for their assistance, and said that the contribution will motivate the players to play well.
