Ikageng Rugby Development was established in 2005 in the North West, and the club has been prioritising the skills and abilities of the youth. Both Ikageng Rugby Development and the Hollywood Foundation have one goal in mind: nurturing the talent of athletes from grassroots level. With that in mind, it was an honour for the Team to sponsor rugby equipment to this rugby club and assist with advancement opportunities for these talented young stars.
Ikageng Rugby Development consists of both male and female players, who engage in practice sessions from Monday to Thursday, at Ikageng Stadium. The club was formed to prevent children from living on the harsh streets, and enduring a life that included drug abuse, alcoholism and teenage pregnancy. Some of the club’s proudest moments were winning the Rugby League in 2022, and the selection of senior women to join the Springboks. Hard work is the name of the game for this club, and that has seen many players join clubs that compete for the Currie Cup. As part of a rugby sponsorship, the Hollywood Foundation was proud to contribute rugby equipment to Ikageng Rugby Development, on 21 October 2022.
Euboy Mampanthle, the Chairman of Ikageng Rugby Development, thanked the Purple Team for the kind contribution, and added that this will motivate the players to win matches in the future.
