#HopeIsPower – Lighthouse Foundation

Ground Six Lighthouse Foundation was founded in April 2017 by South African starlet and philanthropist Nomzamo Mbatha. The foundation is a registered, non-profit organisation that aims to meet an ever-growing need to support marginalised youth, child-headed homes and senior citizens.

Hollywoodbets was proud to make a donation to the Foundation. The Foundation in turn opted to hand over the donated items, such as blankets as well as cosmetic and flu hampers to Zamazulu Nkosi Centre, a home in KwaMashu that seeks to aid the elderly and chronically ill. The handover took place on Saturday, 14 August, and formed part of the #HopeisPower campaign that aims to support organisations that felt the brunt of the recent unrest.

Sibusisiwe Qhobosheane, the HR Administrator at Zamazulu Inkosi Old Age Home, stated that the upheaval had severely affected the home and there are now no stores or ATMs for the elderly to use. She also stated that the donation from Hollywoodbets will assist the home, especially after they lost many donors since the start of COVID-19.
