The floods and heavy rain that took place in April in KwaZulu-Natal left many families in need of help, as they witnessed their homes and belongings being washed away. Through the #HandsOfHope campaign, the Hollywood Foundation aimed to offer much-needed assistance to many communities and establishments, through the contribution of food hampers and blankets.
Abahlali baseMjondolo, an organisation based in Durban, was grateful to hear that the Team will be offering support to vulnerable individuals who were negatively impacted by the adverse weather conditions. Asiphe Mpumela, a representative from the organisation, said that the floods caused heartache, as people lost family members and their belongings. On 10 May 2022, the Team was proud to bring some hope to individuals at the organisation, through food hampers that contained essential food items.
