The Hollywood Foundation has reaffirmed its commitment to education by pledging R250,000 toward the establishment of the Black Coffee Foundation Music College, which will be based in Johannesburg. This announcement was made at the prestigious Fundraising Gala Dinner hosted by the Black Coffee Foundation, honouring the legacy of international music icon, Nkosinathi “DJ Black Coffee” Maphumulo.
Held at Luxx in Sandhurst, the star-studded event brought together corporate leaders, philanthropists, and industry stakeholders, all uniting in support of the foundation’s vision.
The Black Coffee Foundation Music College aims to be a state-of-the-art institution, offering a structured three-year curriculum focussed on music theory and business management, which will empower aspiring musicians with the technical and entrepreneurial skills needed to thrive in the industry.
During the fundraising segment of the event, guests enthusiastically pledged their support for the project. Raising the bar for educational investment, the Hollywood Foundation proudly committed a R250,000 contribution, further strengthening its ongoing partnership with the Black Coffee Foundation and complementing their joint Back to School educational initiatives.
Expressing his gratitude, DJ Black Coffee stated, “Thank you for being a consistent force behind everything we do as a foundation. My goal is to establish a structured and reputable academy that empowers professional artists, and I truly value your support.”
The evening concluded with a highly successful auction of DJ Black Coffee’s prized possessions, including exclusive personalised art pieces and clothing items, which raised an impressive R3.1 million towards the Black Coffee Foundation Music College.
Through this contribution, the Hollywood Foundation continues its mission to foster talent and create sustainable opportunities for young creatives, ensuring that the next generation of artists is equipped with both the creative expertise and business acumen necessary for long-term success.
