Hollywoodbets and Lighthouse Foundation reach out to Empilweni MPC during COVID-19 Pandemic

Empilweni MPC

Hollywoodbets “Brighter Future” project with Lighthouse Foundation provides food items to Empilweni MPC

Empilweni Multi-Purpose Centre is a non-profit organisation based in Mkhondo. This a non-profit organisation caters for vulnerable and orphaned children from in and around the town. Children as young as newborn and up to 17 years are cared for by the organisation. Many of these children’s lives have been negatively impacted by HIV/AIDS. The centre has a feeding programme in place, as well as offer a schooling support system. Leading bookmaker, Hollywoodbets, made a R12 500 donation to support the centre. With this donation from Hollywoodbets they would be able to continue their meal programme. A total of 17 families from the community received food parcels courtesy of this donation.
This worthy donation came shortly after the company’s announcement that the Hollywoodbets My Community Programme would be joining forces with Nomzamo Mbatha’s Lighthouse Foundation to hand over R1 million to 60 NPOs and NGOs across all nine South African Provinces. This project has been named “Brighter Future” and aims to help provide relief to those who have been deeply severely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.
This is the second time that the company has come to Empilweni’s aid. “When we heard that the centre was in need of assistance during this time, we acted quickly to help where we could. The Mkhondo community is home to one of our Hollywoodbets branches and many of our team members reside there. The centre is doing a fantastic job of trying their best to continue to assist the community even in the time of the national lockdown. It is heart-warming to know that Mkhondo-residents in need are being looked after thanks to Empliweni,” said Ntandokazi Khumalo, CSI Champion for Hollywoodbets Mpumalanga.
Manager of the centre, Thulani Nkosi, is thankful to Hollywoodbets for their continuous support.

“The COVID-19 pandemic has had a negative effect on many of the families whose children we care for. These funds have given us the necessary means to purchase food parcels for those families in Mkhondo and we are grateful that we are now able to continue doing good where we can,” he said.
