South African cricketer, Keshav Maharaj, has been announced as the new Brand Ambassador for the Hollywood Foundation. The Hollywoodbets Dolphins and Proteas spinner will work with the Foundation to make a greater impact on communities through sport.
The Hollywood Foundation was launched in 2021 with the intention of providing hope to local communities and making a sustainable impact. One of the Foundation’s pillars is sports development, which aims to invest in the development of multiple sporting codes, from grassroots through to the professional level. The goal is to harness the abundant natural talent in the country and provide individuals with opportunities, so they too can develop to become future stars one day.
The Durban-born cricketer attended Northwood High School and played club cricket for Delta Cricket Club. He worked his way through schools and provincial levels, before making his debut for South Africa against Australia in November 2016. He now plays for the Proteas in the Test, One Day International and Twenty20 International formats. His leadership skills have seen him captain the Hollywoodbets Dolphins, as well as the Proteas, on their recent tour of Sri Lanka.
Maharaj has been described as a “committed, whole-hearted performer” on the pitch, but has displayed role-model qualities off the pitch, with his humbleness and passion for the community. With his new role, he aims to impact even more charities, organisations and sporting teams across the country.
Hollywood Foundation CSI Manager Rasigan Naidoo says the partnership with Maharaj will aim to elevate the impact already being made within our communities, and touch as many lives as possible through the passion of sport.
