The Hollywood Foundation has been making a powerful difference in the lives of many people across KwaZulu-Natal, with the #HandsOfHope campaign. The campaign has the purpose to ensure that many families recover and are able to stand on their feet again, following the floods and heavy rain in the province.
Durban Child and Youth Care Centre is based in Glenwood, and it prioritises the needs of vulnerable and orphaned children from within the region. The organisation has a goal to “promote a sense of physical and emotional well-being, through a safe and therapeutic environment, for children who are at risk because of neglect, abuse and orphan-hood”. The organisation was delighted to receive a visit from the Team from KwaZulu-Natal on 26 April 2022, who contributed R30 000 to help with reaching out to family members of children that were affected by the adverse weather conditions. Nicolette Modicka, the Development and Relationship Manager at Durban Child and Youth Care Centre, thanked the Hollywood Foundation for reaching out to the organisation, and said, “Families were severely affected by the heavy rains and recent floods. Thanks to this contribution, we have been able to provide food hampers, toiletries, towels, blankets, water and fresh breads to each of these families.” “of physical
