Hollywoodbets and Lighthouse Foundation reach out to Very Special Outstanding People (VSOP) during COVID-19 Pandemic

Very Special Outstanding People (VSOP)

Very Special Outstanding People (VSOP) assist 30 families thanks to Hollywoodbets and Lighthouse Foundation’s Brighter Future Project

Very Special Outstanding People (VSOP) is an organisation that has been giving back to the Evaton community since 2012. They provide recreational sports activities for the members in their community as well as food parcels to those who are in need. The COVID-19 pandemic has brought about much anxiety around food security across South Africa and that is why it is important for organisations to continue to offer their essential services. VSOP was able to provide 30 households with food parcels thanks to Hollywoodbets’ R12 500 donation as part of their “Brighter Future” project.
This project came about after the recent announcement that the leading bookmaker would be collaborating with Nomzamo Mbatha’s Lighthouse Foundation to pledge R1 million as a relief response to the COVID-10 pandemic. These funds will be distributed to 60 NPOs and NGOs across all nine South African provinces to help those who are most vulnerable at this difficult time.
This organisation is well-known in Evaton for the soccer team that they have put together and for the motivation that they have instilled among their players.

“Thanks to this donation, we were able to provide food parcels to 30 of our players. Not only will these food parcels help our players, but they will also provide meals for their entire households. We are grateful to Hollywoodbets for giving us the funding that has allowed us to continue support those who are vulnerable at this time,” said Sphiwe Booi, COO for VSOP.

According to Lorraine Tshabalala, Gauteng Area Manager for Hollywoodbets, this was an easy choice for the company. “At Hollywoodbets, we believe that it is important to continue doing community work at this time because it is a time where people are most vulnerable. This organisation wanted to take care of their soccer players and on top of that, the players’ families. Many of the families have no food because of unemployment which is why we jumped at the opportunity to offer our assistance where possible,” she explained.
