Hollywoodbets Mandarin Inn chose to support Healing Minds Community Services as part of the Hollywoodbets My Community Programme for 2019/2020. Read on to learn more about the team’s visit.

Healing Minds Community Services
The Healing Minds Community centre provides multi-faceted services to their community through various projects. That includes a vegetable garden that grows vegetables to assist the soup kitchen as well as providing parcels for needy families in the area. They also offer day-care for working parents who cannot afford day-care. And an after-school youth programme that assist the children with doing their homework as well as planned constructive activities to keep the youth off the streets.
They also run a sewing programme that assists women from the community to learn needed skills and also to help them generate income for themselves as well as the centre. Healing Minds also offers a rehabilitation and empowerment programme for youth who have been incarcerated. This is a counselling and skills development programme that allows young people to develop the trade they have learned whilst in prison allowing them to generate income for themselves. The goal is to ease their reintegration into society. This organisation opened its doors in 2012.
The Hollywoodbets Mandarin Inn Team Members visited the centre to show their support. The team handed over storage containers, sewing materials, a clothing rail for the sewing project, building materials to fix the paving and driveway, a washing machine, irons, ironing boards and large cooking pots.
Elizabeth Mangaliso, Chairperson, expressed her gratitude for the generous donation.
“Hollywoodbets has been a shining dependable light for our organisation. They have said yes when others have said no, they have given us so much support not only in all the various investments into our centre, but also the time they have spent with us and all the encouraging words they give us to keep us motivated. We are so grateful and we can see the impact they have helped us to make as we service the people of Walmer township, helping us to show them that there is hope for their futures and that when people come out and support one another then great things can be accomplished”, she said.
