Many orphaned children remain vulnerable to poverty and sickness and also lack proper shelter which results in them ending up on the streets. To curb the scourge, Tsogang Basadi, an organisation based in Bushbuckridge, helps to cater for these orphaned children who are often found on the streets. In November, the Hollywood Foundation Team, through its CSI initiative, brought relief to the organisation with a contribution of pots, chairs, mops, brooms and plates to help them with their mission to provide support to these vulnerable children.
Tsogang Basadi was established in 2006 with the aim of helping orphaned children who are at great risk of being exploited by criminals. Most of these children have no access to education or self-sustaining skills which results in insecurity and instability.
The organisation provides meals for the children however, it faced many challenges when it came to cooking as they lacked resources and support. With the assistance from the Purple Team, they are now be able to prepare meals for more children, which is one of their goals. The organisation is also aiming to create a platform where children can participate in sports like soccer and netball which will keep them off from the streets.
Mashile, the Founder of Tsogang Basadi, said that she was grateful for the contribution, which forms part of various CSI projects by the Hollywood Foundation. She added that they will now be able to attend to the children’s needs and provide necessary support.
