The Highway Hospice Association
Hollywoodbets Pinetown

The Highway Hospice Association cares for the terminally ill as well as for the families, friends and communities at large of those suffering from terminal illness.
They have been promoting palliative care since 1982, which is a treatment focused on the patient rather than the illness, with the goal of making people feel better in the final stage of their life.
Their work and contribution to society is based on the core belief that everyone has the right to a beautiful life and to experience an equally dignified death.
They have also gone to the extent of promoting and providing education and training in palliative care, mentorship and development of community hospices within the greater Durban area; which they do free of charge.
Hollywoodbets Pinetown Team Members visited the Highway Hospice centre to show their support to this worthy case.
The Team delivered 52 blankets after having been touched to hear what the organisation does for those in the final stages of their lives – making each day count.
Head of Fundraising and Marketing, John Olds, was grateful for the support.
“Our main focus is to promote comfort for the patient, usually through pain management but obviously in winter there is a need for warmth as much as comfort, these blankets are going to be useful for the patients when they have a great need for warmth”, he said.
