In the month of August, the country celebrated and honoured women who are making a remarkable impact in various communities. It was an honour and a privilege for the Hollywood Foundation to once again, implement the #EmpoweringHER campaign for Women’s Month. The Purple Team partnered with starlet Nomzamo Mbatha’s Lighthouse Foundation for the Women in Business Awards, which shone a spotlight on female-owned businesses throughout South Africa. The campaign was very near and dear to the ESD Team, as it afforded many of these businesses a platform to grow, transform and improve their operations that contribute towards the economy.
One of the businesses that received funding through this campaign was Sebenzile Demolitions and Projects (Pty) Ltd. This Gauteng-based business is owned by Thandi Mase, and it primarily offers demolition services to customers from within the region. Previously, the business was spending a lot of money on plant hire. Following assistance from the campaign and support from the ESD Team, the business received funding to purchase three new jack hammers.
Thandi explained that this assistance will allow Sebenzile Demolitions and Projects (Pty) Ltd to achieve its goal of creating more employment opportunities for workers. She added that the equipment will increase the production process and increase the pace of operations.
