With education being one of the Hollywood Foundation pillars, as part of the Foundation’s CSI project, the Team from Parrow once again assisted Ravensmead Creche with educational materials.
This creche which was established in 2012, is located on the Cape Flats with 90 % of the children coming from broken and disadvantage homes. The crèche is a haven to children from six in the morning to six in the evening. They provide two nutritional meals and two snack breaks for the children from Monday to Friday and accommodates 125 children between the ages of 6 months to 6 years and the staff are sufficiently trained and experienced in the field.
Ravensmead also has an aftercare where they accommodate about 20 primary school children. The Purple Team visited the creche in October as part of various CSI projects with a contribution of scooters, activity books, office shelf, jolly children chairs and tables. This was after the creche management requested assistance with their wish list.
Sarah Strauss, Principal at Ravensmead Creche said that they realised that to remain sustainable, forging partnerships with private business owners is a necessity in current economic conditions. She said that the creche usually rely heavily on community support to continue running the center and to further empower children for a better future.
