The end of the year is usually a stressful and challenging time for many non-profit organisations across South Africa. Many of them start their plans for the new year and continue with their efforts to assist and uplift vulnerable individuals in society. Throughout the year, the Hollywood Foundation has been on a mission to touch many lives, through various CSI projects. In December, the iBranch Team in Limpopo was honoured to pay a special visit to an organisation that prioritises the needs of disadvantaged children within the community.

Pfariso Yashu was established in 2012, and the organisation is comprised of hardworking staff who look after children on a daily basis. The organisation was formed due to the high rate of poverty in the community. Children consider this organisation to be a safe haven, where they are able to learn, grow and enjoy a warm-cooked meal. The staff regularly tend to the children and, together, they engage in homework activities and educational lessons, such as the steps to take to avoid teenage pregnancy. The organisation has opened up about the many challenges that it faces, including lack of mattresses and tables for the children to use. On 15 December 2022, the Team visited the organisation, to contribute much-needed equipment, such as JoJo tanks, a gas stove, mattresses and bowls. This formed part of a CSI project, and has the goal to help Pfariso Yashu continue with their good efforts of supporting the future generation.

“Our children will be able to do their homework properly on the tables, and they will also have clean water to sustain them.”
Moses Shayhani
Representative from Pfariso Yashu
