Bursary opportunity brightens future for Gauteng students

Bursary recipient, Angel Mthimkulu

Hollywoodbets and YFM were happy to announce their “The Future is Bright” bursary recipients. This came after the company announced their investment of R100 000 into the campaign to encourage growth and educational development amongst the youth of South Africa.

Angel Mthimkulu, a Midrand resident, received a bursary of R45 896 towards completing her first year of BCom Law at Pearson Institute of Higher Education. “After hearing that my application was successful, I was happy and relieved, and I immediately told my father who was also very excited. I have always wanted to study corporate law. I was going to postpone my studies but, thanks to the Hollywoodbets and YFM bursary, I can now carry on!” she explained.

The second lucky recipient, Tebogo Mamabolo, is from Kempton Park. She received a R54 680 bursary in order to complete her first year in Media Practices through Boston College. “I was so excited after finding out that I received the bursary! The first person I told was my mom who was, and still is, so happy for me. I have always been very passionate about media and I want to help other youngsters like myself. I want to be able to create my own content as I am also very interested in photography. My long-term goal is to go overseas and hopefully be selected to take part on the New York Film Academy. This bursary has created the opportunity for me to expose myself to more diverse people and cultures and I hope to learn a lot,” she said.

“It is heart-warming to see how we have played a role in the career paths of these learners. We hope that in the future we can continue to create a brighter future for even more of our upcoming leaders by investing in their education. 2020 was a difficult year for many, therefore, we look forward to continue making an impact in our local communities in 2021,” said Sandisiwe Bhengu, Operations Executive of Hollywoodbets.
