Bursary recipient Solomon Kganyago

Hollywoodbets and Capricorn FM have announced their “The Future is Bright” bursary campaign recipients. With a value of R100 000, the initiative was created to contribute towards the growth and educational development of youth in Limpopo.

Solomon Kganyago, from Polokwane, is currently studying towards his Diploma in IT Management at UNISA. This is his first year studying and he explained how much this bursary, worth R21 990, was going to help him. “I first heard about this campaign on Capricorn FM. I was very surprised when I found out that I was one of the chosen bursary recipients, and when I told my parents, they were very happy for me and asked so many questions. I chose to study IT as it can be used all over the country and, therefore, opens many doors for me. This bursary allows me to study towards begin my tertiary education as I would have never been able to afford it,” he said.

The second recipient, of a R43 570 bursary, is Khanimam Baloyi, also from Polokwane. She is currently in her third year at UW and is studying towards a BSc in Construction Studies. “After I saw the campaign on Capricorn’s Facebook, I immediately applied. I was very hopeful and would often check my inbox to see if I was successful. After finding out that I was successful, I was so excited; my family are also very happy for me. From a young age, I have always wanted to be an engineer and by completing my degree, I complete my dreams. Without this bursary, I wouldn’t have been able to continue studying as I did not have the finances. I hope that one day I can become a Construction Manager and gain as much experience as possible,” she explained.

We hope that in the future we can continue to create a brighter future for even more of our upcoming leaders by investing in their education. 2020 was a difficult year for many, therefore, we look forward to continue making an impact in our local communities in 2021,” said Sandisiwe Bhengu, Operations Executive of Hollywoodbets.
