Hollywoodbets and Gagasi FM have announced the successful recipients of their “The Future is Bright” bursary project. The campaign was started to showing their support of tertiary education, by making a substantial investment of R100 000 in bursaries for 2021.
A R35 370 bursary was awarded to Mbali Zondi, who is currently specialising in Social Media through her Higher Certificate in Marketing course at Boston College.
When speaking to the avid student, she had this to say: “I was very excited when I was greeted by this wonderful news. Hollywoodbets has now given me a start, in the pursuit of my career aspirations. My mother is a domestic worker, and we would have not previously been able to afford tuition fees,” she said.
Njabulo Mthembu, from Empangeni, received a R66 392 bursary which will go towards his second year of his BCom Accounting degree at the University of Zululand.
Hollywoodbets and Gagasi FM started their “The Future is Bright” journey in 2020 when they made R300 000 available to tertiary students. This helped cover registration and tuition fees, and the companies were excited to continue this venture into 2021.
“It is heart-warming to see how we have played a role in the career paths of these learners. We hope that in the future we can continue to create a brighter future for even more of our upcoming leaders by investing in their education. 2020 was a difficult year for many, therefore, we look forward to continue making an impact in our local communities in 2021,” said Sandisiwe Bhengu, Operations Executive of Hollywoodbets.
