Hollywoodbets and Lighthouse Foundation’s Brighter Future Project Provides 34 food parcels for Nhlayiso Community Health Drop-In Centre

The Nhlayiso Community Health Drop-In Centre was established in 2001 and since their start they have aimed to reduce the level of disease in their community, while increasing their recovery rate. The centre also provides social support to their members by addressing issues such as poverty, inequality and unemployment. In times like these when the country is faced with a pandemic it is important that an organisation like this be able to continue doing their good work. To that end Hollywoodbets chose to give R12 500 to be put towards the centre’s efforts. These funds will help the Nhlayiso team make food up parcels for 34 households in need.
This donation came about after the recent announcement that the leading bookmaker’s Hollywoodbets My Community Programme was joining forces with Nomzamo Mbatha’s Lighthouse Foundation to hand over R1 million to 60 NPOs and NGOs around South Africa. This is relief response to the national pandemic which will help many people across all nine of the country’s provinces.
According to Khanyisa Mkhari, Hollywoodbets Area Manager for Limpopo, the centre was in desperate need of a donation. “As a result of our current lockdown, the centre is not receiving their usual funding and is struggling to provide their essential health care services to the community. We are glad that we can make this necessary donation so that the centre can continue to support those who rely on them,” he said.
Managing Director of the centre, Meriam Mathye, is grateful that the centre can continue to support their community with these food parcels.

“We are now able to reach out to our beneficiaries and assist them with these food parcels that were bought with the sponsorship amount. The recipients of these parcels reside in our surrounding communities of Nkowankowa, Dan Village and Rhuiani Village who are all in great need and relieved to have this assistance given to them,” she explained.
