Hollywoodbets ‘’Brighter Future’’ project with Lighthouse Foundation – Morwakola Drop-in Centre, Limpopo

Morwakola Drop-in Centre

Hollywoodbets “Brighter Future” project with Lighthouse Foundation provides essential items to Morwakola Drop-in Centre

There are many NPOs and NGOs across South Africa who take vulnerable children into their care. When it comes to the children of Ga-Mashashane village, a rural area just outside Polokwane, this role is performed by the Morwakola Drop-in Centre. Since 2007, the centre has been providing comprehensive care to orphaned and vulnerable children. They are currently looking after 70 beneficiaries who have been adversely affected by abuse, or whose parents suffer from HIV and AIDS. Hollywoodbets chose to support to this centre to enable them to continue helping those who truly need it during this time of need.
A total of R30 000 was donated to the organisation thanks to a recent collaboration between the Hollywoodbets My Community Programme and Nomzamo Mbatha’s Lighthouse Foundation. Through this “Brighter Future” project a total R1 million will be given to 60 NPOs and NGOs across all nine provinces in South Africa to help tide them over during the COVID-19 pandemic. Courtesy of this donation 52 families who don’t have an income at this time will receive food parcels.
This is Hollywoodbets second donation to Morwakola Drop-in Centre as it falls within a community of one of their branches. “One of our Hollywoodbets team members, who resides close to the centre, has seen the ongoing support that the organisation is showing to their community. We wanted to acknowledge these great efforts and show our support to one of the most poverty-stricken villages in Polokwane,” explained Khanyisa Mkhari, Limpopo Area Manager for Hollywoodbets.
Manager at the centre, Sema Lerato Anna, believes that this donation came at a great time.

“Our community is poverty stricken and therefore there are many families that rely on us. These food parcels will feed many families who are without an income during this difficult time and who aren’t able to provide for their families,” she said.
