With the continuous rise in food prices, members of the community have to find other means to survive. The Ikemeleng Foundation, based in Diepsloot, Gauteng, aims to change this situation through a food garden and the Hollywood Foundation through its CSI initiative, was more than willing to land a helping hand in making this a reality.
Ikemeleng Foundation was established in 2020 with the aim to provide food security through a garden project in the community. The organisation uses the garden to give back to the community.
The organisation has been facing some struggles, with lack of resources being the main challenge. The iBranch Team in Gauteng once again visited the organisation on 22 November 2022, to hand over garden equipment and a Wendy house to help them continue to fulfil their dream of proving food security in the community of Diepsloot. This was done as part of various CSI projects by the Purple Team.
