Hollywoodbets Lancashire Cricket Club are on the up, having won four of the five T20 trophies on offer this season. The Club’s Premier League Team won the VHA Accounting Premier League T20 title, beating Varsity CC by 19 runs.
The U15, U11 and U9 Teams also won their respective T20 competitions with the U13 side reaching the semi-finals of their tournament. With such strong youth structures in place and the first team upwardly mobile, the future looks bright for the Pietermaritzburg club.
Looking back eight or nine months, it’s extraordinary to see how the club has progressed from battling relegation from the Premier League to securing their first piece of senior silverware for 13 years.
It’s a remarkable story of a club flourishing in uncertain times. Lancashire has gone from fielding five sides in 2018/19 to putting out nine teams for the upcoming 2021/22 season. And with interest in the sport increasing, the club has become an absolute hotbed of cricket development in the Pietermaritzburg region.
All the hard work paid off on Friday 22 October as Lancashire squared off against Varsity CC in the final of the VHA Accounting Premier League T20. Hollywoodbets Tuskers T20 captain Michael Erlank put in a man of the match performance, scoring a 65-ball 117 before returning bowling figures of 3-25 from his four overs.
