Nkowankowa Sports Academy is based in Bankuna and it was established in 2017. The club is comprised of three teams and over 75 players. Players practice three days a week at Bankuna Sports Field and the club was formed at a significant time to help young men by keeping them off the streets and preventing them from substance abuse.
On 27 January 2022, the Team from Tzaneen paid a friendly visit to the club to hand over new soccer kits for the players to use. The club was ecstatic and thrilled to receive the new gear and added that the contribution of the new kits was one of the club’s proudest moment. JJ Mathansi, the Manager of Nkowankowa Sports Academy, said that the contribution will now allow the players to be recognised when playing games in the new year.
