The Hollywood Foundation Team in KwaZulu-Natal was honoured to make a meaningful contribution to a local sports club, that is continuing to improve the lives of young football stars. Grassroots Sports Development is a focus area for the Purple Team, due to the powerful impact that physical activity has proven to have on the growth and development of the youth. Through many soccer sponsorships, an array of clubs were grateful to receive sports kits and playing equipment, which will assist in nurturing present and future athletes.

Local Madrid is a soccer club, that was formed in 2005. There are seven teams within the club, and junior structures have also been implemented in order to ensure that young talent are given the necessary support to further their skills. The players at the club, who are between the ages of nine and 21, engage in practice sessions five times a week, at Dr Nembula High School in Adams. The primary reason for the formation of Local Madrid was to ensure that the youth have an outlet to remain fit and active, while also escaping a harsh life that included crime, alcohol and substance abuse. One of the club’s proudest moments was competing at a regional level, and some of the players have also gone on to play for the Diski League, and the Motsepe Foundation League. The Hollywood Foundation has a passion for sports, and the Purple Brand has chosen to invest back into sports across various codes, in order to promote values such as teamwork, discipline and respect. On 3 April 2023, the Team from Isipingo paid a special visit to the club, to present the players with a soccer sponsorship that consisted of new kits.

Musa, the Chairman of Local Madrid, was overjoyed to receive assistance from the Hollywood Foundation, and explained that the club was struggling before with a shortage of playing kits. He said, “We will now be able to have players who will be dressed as per FIFA’s code.”
