Hollywoodbets Newton Park chose to support Golden Stars FC as part of the Hollywoodbets My Community Programme for 2020/2021.

This club was started in 2009 to increase the number of clubs catering for the development of women’s soccer within the community. There are currently 40 members with ages ranging between 14 and 18 years. The club is currently made up of two teams who practise twice a week on field in Varsvlei. One of the club’s highlights came in 2014 when they won the SAFA National Women’s League and subsequently won a spot in the playoffs to be promoted to the SASOL Provincial League.
The Hollywoodbets Newton Park Team heard about the club’s fantastic contribution towards the development of women’s soccer and decided to support their great work.
Chairman of the club, Abraham Sauls, was grateful for the help.
“This donation has taken a large financial burden off of our shoulders. We are grateful for this donation and our players are excited to use their new kit while playing,” he said.
