In an effort to further extend the development of sports from grassroots level, the Hollywood Foundation was proud to assist Crusader Rugby Club with a rugby sponsorship. The Purple Team has been touching the lives of many upcoming athletes across the country and providing them with a possible platform to showcase their talent on a bigger stage.
Based in Port Elizabeth, Crusader Rugby Club was established in 1887. PE Cricket Club incorporated Crusader Rugby Club in 1887, as part of a greater strategy to incorporate other sporting codes. The club is comprised of three teams and 70 players, who practice twice a week at St. Georges Park. One of the club’s proudest moment was winning the Grand Challenge, the highest club league in Port Elizabeth. The hard work and determination of players at this club have seen some of them move to play at different levels, including provincial, international and varsity club. On 19 October 2022, the Team paid a special visit to the club to present them with a rugby sponsorship, which included new rugby kits, water bottles and rugby cones.
Jaco Kirsten, the Chairman of Crusader Rugby Club, thanked the Hollywood Foundation for their generosity and willingness to assist developing sports clubs
