Cape Town: The Hollywood Foundation, an organisation dedicated to driving positive change, has joined forces with Rise Above Development (RAD) to support and uplift the youth of Lavender Hill in Cape Town. This ground-breaking collaboration aims to harness the power of sports in creating a safe space for youth engagement while providing essential resources for their development.
Recognising the remarkable work undertaken by RAD in effecting positive change through sports, the Hollywood Foundation has stepped in to provide assistance. Their contribution includes resurfacing three netball courts with new tar and installing dedicated poles for these courts. Furthermore, the Hollywood Foundation has generously supplied a variety of essential equipment, including balls, bibs, training cones, whistles, and kits. This contribution will greatly benefit and positively impact a total of 480 children within the community.
On June 16, 2023, in commemoration of Youth Day, RAD hosted a momentous netball tournament, coinciding with the handover ceremony by the Hollywood Foundation. Esteemed guests, including Cape Town’s Deputy Mayor Alderman Eddie Andrews along with other stakeholders, graced the event. This ceremony symbolises the shared commitment to empowering youth and fostering a safe and supportive community environment.
The Hollywood Foundation’s contribution stands as a testament to the positive outcomes that sports can bring to the lives of young individuals. By enhancing the tournament experience, the Hollywood Foundation’s support of RAD will underscore the impact of structured out-of-school time activities on youth development.
