The Hollywood Foundation continues to lend a helping hand in the development of young people in communities all over South Africa. The Purple Family believes that all children deserve an opportunity to learn and grow in an environment that is most conducive to achieving their educational, physical, social and psychological goals.
The quality of a child’s early experiences makes a critical difference in the overall cognitive functioning of children as their brains develop. With this in mind, the Hollywood Foundation launched the Magic Spaces CSI Initiative to promote Early Childhood Development (ECD) through the installation of jungle gyms at creches.
Mogau Day Care Centre was established in 2009, and is located in Mandela Village, Bushbuckridge. The organisation services 140 beneficiaries and aims to teach and take care of underprivileged children in the community, as well as assist parents to ensure that children are safe.
In addition to providing quality education, the organisation is determined to create a space that allows children to make better sense of their world by playing and exploring. The Purple Team from Bushbuckridge identified the organisation for this CSI initiative and saw the need to reach out and make a contribution.
On 11 August 2023, the Hollywood Foundation and the Bushbuck Ridge Team visited the facility through the Magic Space CSI Initiative, to contribute a jungle gym so that the children would have a place to play outside and assist with their daily activities.
There was excitement and cheer on the day, as the children lined up to play. Maile Chrestina, Manager at the centre, expressed gratitude for the much-needed contribution and said,
“This contribution will help our learners to be able to relax and refresh their minds because playing helps them to grow physically and mentally strong.”
