Based in Katlehong, Zimeleni Special School has been prioritising children with special needs since 1982. These children also have a desire to learn and develop, and this school serves as a safe haven, where teachers put in hard work to ensure that they help these children with improvements in their skills and abilities. The school was delighted with the news that learners will be receiving assistance from the Hollywood Foundation’s Back to School campaign this year.
School shoes are almost a staple requirement for learners. Parents are also put under much pressure to buy these shoes for their children, and the prices usually vary after the festive season. Previously, parents stated that they could not afford to purchase the shoes for the children. On 21 January 2022, the Team from Alberton were proud to hand over boxes of brand-new school shoes for learners to use.
Mafolo Bagopa, a representative for Zimeleni Special School, thanked the Hollywood Foundation for the kind gesture and friendly visit. He added that his hopes for children at the school is to have a better wellbeing in the future.
