The Hollywood Foundation continues to help make dreams come true. In July, the Purple Team together with the Hollywoodbets Dolphins, visited Parkgate Primary School to hand over cricket equipment to aspiring cricketers.
The club was established in 2016 and it has 80 players who form part of the junior and senior teams. The players are from the ages of six upwards. They practice from Monday to Friday and play games on weekends.
The aim of the cricket club is to nurture home grown talent and to remove kids from the streets. The club’s proudest moment was when they were selected to represent the provincial teams. They also have players who have moved from government schools to private schools through cricket scholarships.
With sports development as a pillar of the Hollywood Foundation, the Team spent the day with the Dolphins and young cricket enthusiasts. According to Coach Thula Gumede, before the contribution from the Hollywood Foundation, it was hard having dedicated players without facilities and equipment.
