An event filled with glitz and glamour encapsulated the Hollywoodbets Greyville Racecourse on Tuesday, 07 June 2022. The Hollywoodbets Durban July Young Designer Award, presented by Durban Fashion Fair, boasted 110 entries all vying for a semi-final spot in the prestigious competition.
In March, the Hollywood Foundation pledged an amount of R100 000 towards the prizes. The winner will receive an amount of R50 000, the designer in second place will receive R30 000, and the designer in third place will receive R20 000. In an attempt to promote skills development and to ensure that these designers have a promising future, these amounts can go towards their student loan or funding for their future studies.
Round one of the competition included gorgeous designs that tied into the Hollywoodbets Durban July theme, “Show me the Honey”. Twenty-five Young Designers were selected as the semi-finalists, which is set to take place on 15 June 2022 at Gateway Theatre of Shopping.
