Hollywoodbets and Lighthouse Foundation reach out to Lesego Tau Education Foundation during COVID-19 Pandemic

Lesego Tau Education Foundation

Hollywoodbets and Lighthouse Foundation’s Brighter Future Project support Lesego Tau Education Foundation with food for 35 families

The Lesego Tau Education Foundation was established in 2015 in order to help address the problem of unemployment among the youth of Gauteng. At present they are providing general support to those in need within their community. South Africa’s largest bookmaker decided to make a R12 500 donation to the organisation. These funds were put towards supporting 35 households in Soweto by delivering food parcels to these families in need. This donation forms part of the Brighter Future” project a collaboration between Hollywoodbets’ My Community Programme and Nomzamo Mbatha’s Lighthouse which will result in the distribution of R1 million in funding across 60 NPOs and NGOs across South Africa in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
As part of their usual function Lesego Tau addresses social challenges and assists with the educational development of the youth. The foundation also offers assistance to young people who are entering the working world in the form of programmes including personal development workshops, skills development and educational tours.
Hollywoodbets chose to work with the organisation because of the solid reputation they have built up within Soweto. “We chose to support this foundation because of the superb job that they do offering guidance for the people of Soweto. Lesego offers hope to those who don’t know how to take steps into the future. At Hollywoodbets, we pride ourselves in our continuous community work and therefore felt it was the perfect move to support them,” said Lorraine Tshabalala, Gauteng Area Manager for Hollywoodbets.
Lesego Tau, Team Leader for Lesego Tau Education Foundation, was thankful to Hollywoodbets as the organisation was able to continue their community work during this time.

“We were able to provide food parcels to households in the communities of Soweto and Tsepisong. These mainly went to families that have to take care of children and may be struggling to do so during the COVID-19 pandemic,” he explained.
